Category: The Good
Our first takeaway with Everest Tandori and we weren’t disappointed.
Well we didn’t order a vegetable curry, it seems to be some sort if extra but hey, not complaining!
OK, the food arrived hot which I know it should but isn’t always the case so that’s box one ticked.
Let me start with the naan. I couldn’t really see or taste cheese but it was very good. It wasn’t soggy or dry and held itself together far better than master foodie when he doesn’t get what he wants. Tasted good and I have to say perfectly done.
Special rice was great, not too dry or sticky and had a good flavour to it. Then there’s the Kalamirchi, I have never had this before and wasn’t disappointed. A good chilli kick to it which was fantastic. I would definitely eat that again. The prawn biryani was also full of great flavours and even the unordered vegetarian was great.
Nothing left a greasy/oily residue on the place which was fantastic. I dont really have much more I can say other than it was very yummy, come on down?!!!!!!!
This is an amazing sipping rum for Christmas, Think of it as Christmas in a glass, somehow they have managed to sum up the smells and flavours vers of Christmas in a rum.
This is a golden spiced rum with a bit of an after kick, something I enjoy but the spices in this one are a bit different to my usual tipple. Once I had tried it at one of our favourite restaurants (will be reviewed soon I’m sure) I had to get a bottle for Christmas. This is not for mixing but just enjoyed on its own, chilled or even warmed like brandy!
If your into rum. And want to try something different for Christmas find yourself a bottle and try it.
A passion fruit liqueur. So if you aren’t a fan of passion fruit avoid! Personally I like this with lemonade but that doesnt mean it has to be! Experiment and see what you like best. Being allergic to cola it limits me but I really wouldn’t suggest putting this with cola anyway. Its fruity and light, sweet but not too sweet. Pasoa and lemonade is like a simple cocktail and very moreish!!! This is my current favourite (I say current because I’m a woman and thus can change my mind whenever you least expect it! I’m sure Mr foodie will confirm this.)

Before I begin you have to understand this is technically pub and not restaurant food and based on that it’s very good.
The starter. Prawn Tempura Cocktail.Well it must of been good because I have only just realised this was meant to of been served with bread and butter!! Missing items aside, it WAS good. Prawns weren’t greasy, the batter was nice and light and the prawns were nice and meaty. The marie rose sauce however I found a little heavy but thats personal preference.
The main. Lamb shank.Veggies good, meat gooood, creamed potatoes……uh… stodgy, reheated mash. The creamed potatoes had what I can only describe as a crust. Its where the outside of it has begun to dry out after being exposed to heat. At a guess(and it is just my thoughts), I would say its had a short time in the oven or microwave. It was smooth but quite thick so I found it rather stodgy. The vegetables were perfect and the lamb just fell off the bone just like it should. The jus was good too and both mr foodie and myself left clean plates
The desset. Boozy Christmas Pud.Now unless my ice cream melted,Im damn sure that was custard. It was a boozy custard but mild so I dont think many people could dislike that. The pudding was good though Im never fond of microwave heated pudding but in fairness, there’s nothing wrong with that just me being picky again, sorry! I was however a little disappointed that the pudding itself wasn’t particularly boozy tasting, it was a very basic pudding but again one for all to enjoy.
So, overall very good.Bonus point would of been added if everything was cooked fresh and not reheated in some way but I guess at times this has to be the way.
We will definitely be returning at some point to try their regular menu and we definitely didn’t leave disappointed.
